Many job advertisements contain far too many requirements for the jobseeker. Companies should instead highlight their values and what they have to offer.

In traditional job advertisements, the presentation of the company and the values it stands for are often overshadowed by a long list of requirements for the applicant. This according to a recent survey on the design of job advertisements made by the advertising agency manager Mattias Sjöstrand and which is presented in SvD.

- A job advertisement must be designed so that it arouses maximum interest in a candidate. Most ads do not do that now. We humans already have too many demands on us everywhere. No one is starting to get another claim on themselves in life. A job advertisement should instead attract people to apply for a job.

Focusing on the offer becomes especially important if you want to attract competent applicants who already have a good job. Then baits are needed in the form of development opportunities, stimulating work tasks and flexible working hours.

One should also not forget that the job advertisement is an important marketing channel for the company. But at the same time, the job description must of course correspond to reality.

So keep the following in mind when writing a job advertisement:

Attract with what you offer and tone down the requirements.

Highlight the company and its brand.

Clarify and exemplify positive things about the job.

Use a friendly address and the right tone.

Keep it short and refer to the web for more information.
